Riders With Reason: promoting road safety through cycle tours

RWR is a project in memory of Anthony Phoenix Branca, one of my best friends from high school, who was killed by a distracted driver November 7, 2014.

RWR promotes road safety through cycle tour. During the course of the project, we completed two tours: one across Florida and the other through Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina.

During the tours, we used guerilla research methods to capture and circulate stories on social media that revealed peoples’ experiences with road safety and distracted driving.

A dream for the project (that has yet to manifest) is to partner with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) as a data-collection team that focused on grassroots public engagement and immersive storytelling for behavioral change.
